Legendary professional wrestler Ric Flair is facing his second round with skin cancer, confirming his diagnosis on Friday. The 76-year-old icon will begin treatment next week, marking the second time in three years that he has battled the disease. Although Flair initially denied online reports about his condition, he later opened up to People magazine about the situation.
“It’s the second time in three years that I’ve been dealing with skin cancer,” Flair said, revealing that he will start treatment soon. Despite the challenges, Flair remains determined to continue his fight.
Flair’s Health Struggles in Recent Years
Flair has faced numerous health issues over the past decade. In 2017, he underwent surgery to remove an obstructed piece of his bowel, which resulted in complications like kidney failure. Last year, Flair also claimed to have suffered a heart attack during his final wrestling match. Despite these setbacks, the wrestling legend has continued to remain a strong figure in the world of sports entertainment.
Flair’s Legacy in Wrestling
Flair, also known as “The Nature Boy,” is widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time. Throughout his career, he held a tie with John Cena for the most world championship reigns, with both men holding 16 titles. Cena recently surpassed Flair’s record in April. Flair made a significant impact in the ’80s and ’90s with Jim Crockett Promotions and World Championship Wrestling.
In recognition of his legendary career, Flair has been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame twice—once as a solo act and once as a member of the iconic Four Horsemen. He is also a member of the NWA Hall of Fame and the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame.
